Not much left in the garden except hydrangea and roses. I've kept the dahlia 'crop' weeded and watered, but I've left the rest of the established yard to its own deep root system. Some hydrangea that received more sun has suffered, except the Annabelle that has sucked up the heat like manna from heaven.
I gathered all the rose specimans that weren't burned from moisture and heat, the hydrangea, a little spirea and some autumn clematis vine.
Time to go visit everyone else's house: a great way to end the day.

That is one sweet arrangement.
The clematis bit does it, doesn't it.
Unrelenting humidity.
This morning Id work for half an hour, come in the house for the next half hour and on and on. Until I just gave in.
You're pretty mostest your own self!
xo Jane
It all looks pretty good to me. I love the Clematis idea, I never think to pick a vine. And do I see a donkey and a bunny?
It looks just wonderful to me. I too love the Clematis idea or any vine but all we have are blackberries. Yikes! Just lovely!
Jane - gave into... ac? The clematis is eating the ugly chain link fence and it's volunteered up the rusty flagpole. Can't beat a vine with fragrant flowers and delicate tendrils.
Amelia - yes, that's a rescued donkey from an Antique shop - a gift from my girls at the shop. I keep running into white donkeys. Think it's proof that Opal should be mine some day.
Bare Mt - we've been using blackberries in all our arrangments at the shop... such a short season, but they shine among the flowers!
Such a beautiful combination of colors and textures.
Charming--I love the crazy spiral dancing in the air. Donkey and rabbits seem to be enjoying too.
Your arrangement is beautiful. A lovely combination of flowers and I love the way it looks so casually arranged x
It's beautiful and speaks of summer. I pruned my hydrangeas over the weekend and put the spade through some dahlia tubers - looking forward to a new crop already even though they're months away!
They are beautiful as always, Shelley !
Very pretty things left after all that heat
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.
Your flowers are so beautiful! And I enjoyed a lovely read of your previous posts. I LOVE that you have bunnies in your flower shop! How fun is that! I bet that's a neat surprise for anyone who wonders into your shop. :o)
it looks like Modestina and the bunny are startled at the beauty of the flowers and saying "woah woah!" doesn't it? ;)
The clematis twirling about is so whimsical - love it!
Very pretty. I love to see stems in a glass vase....
