Black and white

We finished Mother's Day with a dozen or so  unopened peonies and some Snowy Jewel roses that we were nervous about selling because they opened so quickly. I've brought them home to test them out, hoping that they stay fresh for three to five more days.

We sold out of everything else.  Our arrangements have never looked prettier, the flowers were achingly beautiful and Marisa, Lizzie and Kate were efficient, creative and I loved listening to their girl chatter as they swept, cleaned and designed.

At the end of the day, I took photos of the roses, of Oscar, an eight year old Greyhound who longed to come into the shop and 'meet' the rabbits, and Petals who found Mother's Day exhausting!

Mother's Day is over.  Tomorrow is my birthday.  Weddings start again next weekend.  I'm going to try and leave early in the afternoon and rent a roto tiller, till the dahlia bed and buy bags of compost.

What better way to spend one's birthday?  80 degrees and dry tomorrow.  Perfect.

Happy Birthday Shelley! No better way to spend a birthday (except perhaps, with a donkey or two:).

Oh god here I am late to the birthday party.

Love and hugs from a very tired florist in very wet Virginia.

Send ark please.
