After reading Kris's winter lament, I decided to post these yellow flowers we made for a Memorial Service this weekend. In the City, we are also weary of the long long winter but there's no running out of firewood, hauling hay or breaking ice on our dog's drinking water.
California's Siren Song is irresistible by the time we get to March, but by the end of the month I'm usually pruning roses , mulching the flower beds and warm weather seems inevitable. This morning at eleven o'clock it's 36 degrees: warm by upstate NY standards, but the temperature is on it's way down and there's a snow storm brewing for the middle of the week.
But take heart Kris, and all of you who own farms within the range of the seemingly relentless Polar Vortex: it will be 60 degrees here in Boston on Friday which may mean you all will be in the forties!!!
And, there are a few green weeds sprouting in my back yard! I've never been so happy to see a weed.
